Everyone has their own interests that they pursue. I realize
not everyone shares my level of curiosity, wherever that may be. I view the
search of new knowledge is like a treasure hunt, like a trinket found at a yard
sale, but much better. It is something I can use or that has value, even though
the purpose need not be presently clear.
I am not talking about the mundane trivia already widely
known. I am talking about little known hidden knowledge. Do I think I have
collected a vast amount of this information to date? Not at all. I am no more
than average. The biggest puzzle to me is the understanding of how everything
works at the underlying levels. Not just science, but human nature, society.
How did we get to the point we are now? What makes the world go around? What
makes everything tick?
Some of you religious will say, everything ticks because God
makes it tick, and you leave it at that. That is fine for you. I allow you go
about your life’s pursuits in peace without faulting you for it. But here is
the problem I have with many people: They believe they already know it all,
when they were never in pursuit of the truth in the first place. Some would
rather think themselves wise, or be seen as wise, rather than to actually learn
anything new. The truly wise will stop and consider the possibility that a new
idea, or a bit of knowledge may be something not previously known to them. A
fool passes it by in ignorant pride, thinking himself to already possess all
the truth. But the more wisdom a person possesses, the more one realizes how
little they do know. Pride of false self-knowledge stifles true knowledge.
Above all we should have honesty, and honesty starts with
one’s self. Some of you should stop lying to yourself in an attempt to puff up
a sagging ego, or for whatever reason. Everyone has a value and a quality and a
worth of some sort. Don’t put your self worth on some aspect of yourself that
is not your strong point. And for heaven’s sake, all you self proclaimed
teachers, stop teaching that which you have no idea of, because you have not
searched it out in self denying search of the facts. IF you are not capable of
realizing the first fact, the most important fact, the fact that YOU DON’T KNOW
IT ALL, you can NEVER possess any knowledge worth repeating to others. I can
easily tell who among you fits this category. It is so simple because pride is
the witness of a foolish heart.
The foolish will think the discerning person to
be proud when their own folly is recognized, but the foolish cannot have a
clear view with their own pride hindering the view. I cannot do anything about
the things I have no control over. No one can help you if you refuse to listen.
Foolishness dissipates when pride dissipates.
