Yahshua speaking to the Pharisee Nicodemus as recorded in John 3:1-21 is the one place in the Christian bible that the term "born again" is used.
John 3 5 Yahshua answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of YHWH. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Yahshua explains no one is “saved” until he endures to the end, so you are not saved yet. Notice the wording, “shall be”.
Matthew 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Interesting also that he mentioned, no man has ascended to heaven. But Yahshua never mentions going to heaven; rather he is talking about entering the kingdom of the Father Yahwah. I believe the key to understanding this is his statement, "that which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the spirit is spirit."
Contrary to Christian belief, we know that man does not possess immortality, according to John 3:15. An attribute of a “god” is that he is not subject to the laws of nature on earth. The word “god” means immortal, possessing eternal life in the spirit world, as opposed to the world we know in the flesh.
So when Yahshua spoke of being born again, he did not say that it happened immediately, and we walk the earth born of the spirit. If this were true, then we would not be subject to the laws of nature, time, and space. Another Christian misconception is that Yahshua is talking about water baptism in this passage. We are born of water; that means born of the flesh, the water in the womb. So I am putting forth that being “born again” means to be born into immortality, and is yet to come.
