Over analyzing the scriptures is what the Pharisees did. God said, “no work on the Sabbath”. So they felt the need to technically calculate the meaning of work. They numbered the steps allowed, and they assigned a weight limit on what could be carried that day, and many more anal technicalities. They tried to put God’s laws in the spectrum of human understanding as a replacement for spiritual discernment. The Pharisees rejected God’s spirit in favor of their own human capacity, and abilities.
Christians are still allowing themselves to get caught up in this practice today. There are many Christians today fervently studying the bible, they call the “Word of God”. Christians are getting into arguments with one another trying to “rightly divide the truth”; trying to mentally decipher each word and it’s meaning in the bible. This is mental masturbation. You are trying to read the spiritual and understand it with the natural mind.
Job 28 12But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding? 13Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living.
Job 28:28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, thatiswisdom; and to depart from evilisunderstanding.
Proverbs 1:23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
Proverbs 2:6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouthcomethknowledge and understanding.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; thereforeget wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
Proverbs 28:5 Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand allthings.
Isaiah 28:9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
Ezekiel 13:3 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!
John 3:5 Jesus answered,Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water andofthe Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
If you do not seek the Spirit, you will not enter the kingdom of Heaven. You are not saved. You are dead to the Spirit.
John 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
John 4:24 Godisa Spirit: and they that worship him must worshiphimin spirit and in truth.
You do not worship God with your mental capacity.
John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, theyare spirit, andtheyare life.
It is the spirit that teaches, not your bible. Your bible without the Spirit gains you nothing.
John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, thatshall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
Acts 6:10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.
Romans 7:6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
Romans 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
Romans 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. Romans 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
Live by your understanding of the bible, and you will die, but follow the spirit and live.
1 Corintians 2:4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
Many preachers have the ability to stand and preach with great human charisma. But their words bring death to those that refuse to exercise spiritual discernment.
1 Corinthians 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Just because you sit in church every Sunday does not make you a spiritual man, or spiritually discerned. And just because you even may be the one standing behind the pulpit doesn’t make you a spiritual man. What makes you a spiritual man is following the Spirit of God.
2 Timothy 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
Denying the power is denying the Spirit of God. The Spirit of God is not goose bumps, or a feeling that you get, or an inkling, or a guess. The Spirit of God is the unmistakable voice of God. If you don’t hear it, you are not seeking it because you seek self, or maybe you are not weaned from milk as yet. Either way, you have no business preaching the Word of God, when you cannot hear the Word of God. To preach from the bible alone is to preach from carnality. You can preach without the bible, but you cannot preach without the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
1 Corinthians 2:15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
Colossians 1:9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
Galatians 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
Galatians 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
This scripture does not give anyone the right to lawlessness. If you are led by the Spirit of God, you will keep the law.
Galatians 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
Sowing in the flesh is trying to gain head knowledge of the bible, while disregarding the Holy Spirit.
Ephesians 1 17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
Again, we are promised revelation and understanding from God through the Spirit of God.
Phillip 3:3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
1 Thessalonians 5:19 Quench not the Spirit.
Make it easy on yourself. Go to the Holy Spirit. He will tell you all, and without getting a headache. There is way too much emphasis placed on bible study in the Christian realm. This is the focusing of the flesh, or the mental understanding of our human brain. This is worthless by comparison to the Holy Spirit bringing true understanding. Those who are listening here in the spirit did not hear me to say, “Don’t read your bible”. If I were not a believer of the scriptures, would I have deposited so much scripture on this page? Is your focus on the mental understanding of the bible, or the spiritual understanding of God? If you can’t get what I am saying here, stop and seek God. Wait on him. He will answer a sincere heart right where you sit.
1 John 4:6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
