Most everyone believes they are fair, honest, good, and kind to others,
but everyone is looking from their own perspective to some degree. To how much
degree is the question. Those with more pain in their past or for what ever
reason, seem to lean toward looking out for self, and less for others. So just
because you think yourself good, means nothing to reality.
Proverbs 20:6 Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a
faithful man who can find?
When you start realizing your own fallacies is when you begin to be a
better person. When you stop telling yourself how good you are, then you can
introspect and see how your actions affect others. Then will you begin to see.
John
9:41 Yahshua
said unto them,If ye
were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin
remaineth.
Because you say you see makes you blind. I have seen those who have
endured more hardship that are actually more sensitive to others also. So just
why some are more selfish than others, I do not know for sure. I think it has
something to do with personal choice. Make a choice to be loving, and I am not
talking about just being nice, I mean truly, not just on the outside. The
Hebraic Roots Version uses the word kindness.
Proverbs 20:6 Most men will proclaim each his own kindness, but who can
find a faithful man?
If you don't question your kindness and your goodness continually, you
let yourself go to un goodness.
Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know It?
You certainly cannot know you own heart when you retain the bias that you are good. It is called humility, realizing you are not perfect.
