Why Doesn’t God Answer My Prayers? David Field April 22, 2010
I am not claiming to have all the answers, but this may shed a little light on this subject.
First of all, we must realize that God almighty, and all-knowing does not have the same priorities and viewpoint as you do. God knows and sees all. That is from beginning to end; past to present and future. God is not confined to the laws of nature of time or space. He created these laws of nature. So if you think you know better than him, you are sorely mistaken. And if you think he must explain things to you, he doesn’t. He created you and you owe him your life.
Job 38 2Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge? 3Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me. 4Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.
Think of yourself as a helpless little baby. This is exactly what we are in relationship with God. Why do mothers sometimes let their babies cry for a time? To a baby, the least inconvenience is a major emergency. It is all about perspective. The baby hasn’t learned real pain, or real suffering. To him his present condition is the worst thing experienced thus far. Mother knows this is no big deal for the child to wait a minute. The baby needs to learn that the world does not revolve around him. All will be made right in due time. Patience needs to be learned. It is very hard to live with an adult that has been spoiled as a child. The parent that spoils the child is doing that child no favor. This doesn’t mean the parent does not love her child.
Sometimes babies cries turn to anger when mother doesn’t respond quickly enough to suit the baby. The proper response to this behavior is to let the baby cry a little longer…enough for the baby to get over his anger, and return to genuine cries for help. To respond to anger is to enable that behavior. I know some mothers would disagree with me on this, but when you respond to anger, you are putting your child in charge. God is a better parent than that.
Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
We are promised, all will be made right. If you say, you do not want to wait until the after life, you are a big baby, and need to grow up. Things will be hard for you until you do. I believe God will not answer that type of prayer. If God answers prayer before the appointed time, consider it an unwarranted gift, or a bonus. You are not entitled to anything. Do you want to forfeit live everlasting for a comfortable life in your short time here on earth? There is no lack of fools who do.
Matthew 5 3Blessedarethe poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4Blessedarethey that mourn: for they shall be comforted. 5Blessedarethe meek: for they shall inherit the earth. 6Blessedarethey which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
Matthew 6 19Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
31Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
The wiser choice would not be to wish to be high and mighty here on earth over a higher place for eternity. If you started reading this to find the answer how to make God answer your prayer, you have just found differently. Notice the title of this was not “How To Make God Answer Your Prayers”. God is not your vending machine. This is the cold hard truth. If you are focused on your prayers getting answered, no matter how noble you consider them, you have the wrong focus. You need to focus on Jesus and his kingdom. Do not try to build a kingdom of your own here on this earth. Throw this world away to gain a place at Jesus’ side in the kingdom that lasts forever.
