What Is The Meaning Of Life? The Big Picture David Field August 25, 2009
This question of the meaning of life seems to be the biggest mystery in the world. But to understand the meaning of life, we must first know the big picture.
In the beginning God the father wanted to be a father. He has his son Jesus, but wants more. He creates the angels. These angles are created servants that live in his domain, the spiritual world we call heaven. To give meaning to their lives, they all have tasks. To put order in their lives, there is a hierarchy. Lucifer is the highest of all the angels as he is the head angel in charge of worship. Worship is simply the expression of love, devotion, and appreciation. Since God is love. This is a very high calling. These angels must have been created with a will because Lucifer made a decision all on his own that he wanted to be God. God is a god of order, and there cannot be two Gods in one dominion or in the same place, so someone had to go. This angel, Lucifer had convinced one-third of the other angels to follow him. He must have been very convincing. So out they all went, out of the presence of God, the bible says, they were cast down to earth.
Because Lucifer took only one-third of the angels with him means his angels are outnumbered two to one, besides the fact of not being as powerful as God himself, as proven by loosing the afore mentioned war in heaven and thus being cast out.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, being the creative one that he is, God had created or recreated this world. First, he made place for man, and then he created man, breathed the breath of life into man, and then put man in this garden. The word man here is mankind, “male and female created he them”. God created everything we see, but when he created man, he breathed the breath of life into him, making him more than a creation, but making man his offspring. God told man to go and fill the earth with his offspring.
Ok, that is creation in short, but the question remains, why? It would seem that there is now a vacancy in God’s order in heaven. We were created to fill that vacancy. When Lucifer, now called Satan, and cast from heaven, found that he had made a huge mistake. His response is anger and hatred. He is now everything diametrically opposed to God. He is now the opposite of God. He hates God and hates everything God loves, and he hates everything God has made. God is the creator - Satan is the destroyer. God is love - Satan is hate. God is life - Satan is death. God is Joy – Satan is Sorrow and Despair. God is Goodness – Satan is pure Evil. This is black and white. There can be no middle ground. You cannot avoid being on one side or the other because you are part of this world. To not choose is to choose not to choose life.
We were created to worship God. Worship is the display of inward love. Moreover we were created to love and be loved by God himself on a personal level, each one of us. And this is important; everything else is secondary to that fact. So don’t loose focus on this importance. Don’t get caught up in trying to repay God with works or anything else that can never add up to the value of our love and devotion to him. When we love God sincerely we have fulfilled our calling. We need not feel further obligation. We will want to do things, but it will be out of love and not obligation.
