The One True Church Deception David Field March 14, 2010
We think of a church as a building, or a place where people gather for the purpose of worship in accordance with their form of religion.
Most of the denominational churches today think that they are “the one true church”, and they all have biblical scripture to backup their claims. At worst they believe they are the only congregation with a ticket to salvation, and at best they believe they are the most correct of all the other religions. Each of the arguments is as persuasive as the next, but they can’t all be right. The fact is NONE of them are right.
The early churches Paul started and John wrote about were not denominational churches. Paul used the word “Christian”, and then associated a city with each group. But actually, they weren’t churches at all. The King James Version of the bible translates the Greek word for “assembly” to the word church. This was due to an earlier translation into Latin by the Catholic Church. They were simply called a gathering of people. This has nothing to do with a building. These early Christians met in their own houses. There was no mention of a preacher, a choir, a music ministry, a collection plate, or any of the traditions used in our modern churches today.
In this King James Version of the bible Jesus is quoted as saying, “I will place my name on my church”. So churches are trying to figure out what that name is, and call themselves that name. The Church of God is one example of this. They think God the father and Jesus are one in the same. This is yet another mistranslation from the King James Version.
The Catholic Church was the first denominational church. They put forth that their church was founded on Peter, and that Jesus commissioned this church as his. But Jesus made no mention of a Catholic Church, or any church with a name.
The Jehovah’s Witnesses claim that the twelve disciples of Jesus were the first Jehovah’s Witnesses because they all witnessed about Jehovah, and the name Jehovah is the most widely used name of God used in the bible. But this is still a name picked out by men.
Then you have the church of the Latter Day Saints, with their seventeen points of the true church as explained by the Apostle Paul. All these seventeen points are correct, but they are getting so lost in the details that they miss the big picture.
The truth is, it’s not about a particular church. It is about who has accepted and followed Jesus. Simply put, like Jesus said, Those who love me are mine. Those are the ones who Jesus will place his name on. Find out what that means to Love him. Jesus said, “If you love me you will keep my commandments.” Jesus said, “If you love me you will love others.” It’s about Love. Find out what that means. Love is more than an emotion. Love is an action.
The name on the front of your church will not save you. Your church will not save you. Your pastor cannot save you. Your theology cannot save you. I don’t think everyone is getting this yet. The fact that you sit in church, and everything coming from the pulpit sounds correct in your reasoning means nothing. The fact that your pastor has a degree or some kind of training, or is ordained by some functioning body, and agrees with you that you are saved, means absolutely nothing to your salvation.
Most of you sitting in churches are not saved, so if you are not different than the masses, you have better check yourself. You have been fooled by the enemy into following the traditions of men. Wake up. Do you know Christ? Does he know you? You probably don’t even know what that means, even if you say you do. Have you tried to find out? Or do you just go to church and let your pastor spoon feed you? This is putting your faith in a man. You don’t know Christ if this is all you do. Find out who he is, and get to know him, and love him. You have got to go to him and earnestly wait on him. Learn how to pray. Prayer isn’t going to God and asking for stuff like is taught in the churches. My intention here is to shock you into reality here. Complacency is the number one killer.
Matthew 7:14(Jesus speaking) Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
