Traditions Of Men, and The Ways Of God David Field December 25, 2009
Would you compromise your ethics to give up what you know is right in favor of what others think they know is right for the sake of unanimity, especially when they are standing on the tradition of men alone, and you have proof from God’s word?
If you are celebrating the American holidays, you are following the traditions of men, because these are not biblical teachings. New Year, Easter, Thanksgiving, Halloween, Independence, Labor Day, Memorial Day, Valentines, Day Christmas, Birthdays, and any others you may name are not part of the bible, and are the traditions of men. You are partaking in this because you have been programmed, a sort of brainwashing, from birth, and have in most cases never given it a second thought.
Harmless, you may say. Many things the children of Israel did they thought to be harmless as well, but when they went against God’s instructions, they missed out on the blessings promised to them. I’ve also heard the argument “It depends how you celebrate”, meaning if you celebrate in the name of Jesus, then that justifies it. I’ve also heard the argument, “we don’t celebrate the secular part of the holiday”. This is a lie, I’ve seen the secular items in their homes, the christmas trees, easter eggs, etc, which are all pagan symbols. If you have to make excuses, you are wrong in the first place.
Satan takes the things of God, and offers his counterfeits, to lure you away from God. God never takes the things of Satan and justifies them. He has no need because he is above and before Satan. These traditions of men are designed to replace the feasts of the Lord, and are enjoying success in the western world. On the surface the counterfeits look good, but these cannot stand up to closer examination. So why don’t people look a little closer? Because they don’t want to know what they will find. It is easier to go with the flow. Jesus said, wide is the path to destruction.
It is thought that the law has been done away with when Jesus died on the cross. Jesus said he did not come to put away the law but to fulfill it. He is the burnt offering, and we no longer need a priest as an intercessor to God the father because of his bloodshed on the cross. But further than that, we dare not go, because there is no biblical basis for it. Jesus observed the feasts of God.
Jesus did denounce the Pharisees interpretations of the law. Because of their misunderstanding of God, these religious elites carried the law to extremes that God did not intend in many cases. Jesus’ attempts to clarify the law are misconstrued by the church today as a total denouncing of the law.
The enemy is very subtle in his deceit. While religious zealots argue with PCers (politically correct), the enemy laughs because he has got everyone fooled and fighting amongst themselves. On the right the battle cry of “Jesus is the reason for the season!” rings out. And on the left, “separation of church and state!” The irony is both couldn’t be more wrong. Jesus was never the reason for the season. I am sure Jesus would NOT want anything to do with this holiday. Firstly the date of his birth would have been carefully recorded in the bible, as the feasts of God are. Being a God of perfection, Jesus would not share center stage with Santa or any other pagan practices, including the materialistic exchanging of gifts amongst one another, or even the giving of gifts to your children only. If you desire to do what Jesus would do, you would give your gifts to the poor, and expect nothing in return. On the other side, the separation from God was never put forth as an idea by the founding fathers of this Nation. The name of God was included in the documents of the United States of America, and on our currency.
Those of you celebrating New Years day are also celebrating something straight from the enemy. January is not the first month in God’s calendar. The calendar we use today is the Gregorian calendar presented by the Romans. The days of the week are also named for the pagan gods.
Genesis 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
Leviticus 23:4 These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.
Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
Exodus 12 14 And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever. 15 Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel. 16 And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you. 17 And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance for ever. 18 In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, ye shall eat unleavened bread, until the one and twentieth day of the month at even. 19 Seven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses: for whosoever eateth that which is leavened, even that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a stranger, or born in the land. 20 Ye shall eat nothing leavened; in all your habitations shall ye eat unleavened bread. 21 Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover. 22 And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the basin; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning. 23 For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you. 24 And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever.
Matthew 5 17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Matthew 7 13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Mark 7 8For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. 9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. Galatians 3:29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
