When the Un-Teachable Try to Teach David Field April 21, 2010
How can the un-teachable teach, having never opened themselves to learning? You must first learn before you have anything to teach. You must first listen before you speak.
I oft-times run across the Christian who says they are trying “help” me, but their true intentions become clear when they start talking down to me. How obvious it is when person is coming from a position of self-pride, as opposed to from the love and true knowledge of Jesus Christ. One good indicator is, if you challenge them on anything, they become offended. This is a huge red flag, and a sure bet they have nothing to offer. They think so highly of themselves and their own understanding that they believe they are called to enlighten others according to their false belief system. A prideful person’s ego is boosted when they believe they are teaching, what they think of as the younger Christian. It makes them feel important, and in a higher place of enlightenment.
If you are seeking self-satisfaction, and self-pride, you are not seeking the will of the Lord. That which you seek is that which you will find. With self-pride, you are not seeking Jesus, and you are not working for the kingdom of heaven. You are working for self. When you work for self, you are right where Satan wants you, and that is working for him. Yes you heard me right... you are working for Satan, and I don’t want any part of it. I have no desire to listen to your lies, falsehoods, or the misconceived notions you think you know. If this is you, I’m telling you this with the hope of your repentance, as well as telling you to stop trying to teach, at least until such time as you do repent.
Jesus said come to him as a little child. That means don’t come to him thinking you know everything. First you must take the time to unlearn all the things you think you know. And the longer you have been sitting under the false teachings of men, as most Christians have, the more you have to unlearn. Then comes the process of true learning from the Holy Spirit. You aren’t called by God to dispense knowledge until you have been filled with his knowledge, so don’t get ahead of yourself. And don’t get ahead of the Holy Spirit. Don’t teach beyond what he has first taught you. And don’t re-teach the sermon your pastor taught based on the belief that everything he says is true. His certificate from men doesn’t hold any value against the Holy Spirit. This is an easy trap for preachers to fall into, and most of them do. Some hide it better than others, but they have to live up to their position.
If you haven’t learned anything from the Holy Spirit, you haven’t learned anything. I do say things bluntly and plainly, but I never tell anyone to take my word for anything just because I said so, and not even because I say the Holy Spirit told me so. The only way you have of knowing the Holy Spirit told me so, is if the Holy Spirit told you so as well. Those not seeking Jesus cannot learn a thing from me. I can repeat the words of Jesus in the bible, but so many people misread the bible, that this does little or no good without the Holy Spirit’s discernment.
Surrender your self totally to Christ, and die to self. Put self behind - self will only take you down. God bless you, and grow in Christ.
