Patriotism is seen as honorable because it is thought to be the selfless act of honoring and servitude to your fellow citizens. But patriotism is actually the serving of self-interest. People think that their safety and security, well-being and comfort depends on the security of their nation.
So everybody, pick up a flag and begin waving. I have witnessed a town meeting full of Christians, all the churches in the town, that would not stand up for the singing of “How Great Thou Art”, a song that honors the God in whose name they met. But at the beginning of the next song, the national anthem, “The Star Spangled Banner”, which is the worshiping of the flag, all rose to their feet. Actions do speak louder than words, as to what is in a person’s heart. As I witnessed this, I realized at that moment; actually most Christians do not serve God; they instead are looking out for number one.
Some people will accuse me of being negative, or say that looking for evil is not productive. I wasn't looking; God was showing. And He was saying, "Here is the harvest before you. Some of these people are mine, and need to come out.”
